Dr. Simeons and the HCG Diet
Dr. A.T.W. Simeons was the prize-winning British Endocrinologist who discovered the HCG Diet. Dr. Simeons was also awarded the Red Cross Order of Merit for pioneering injectable atebrin in the treatment of malaria.
The HCG Diet
While treating patients in his clinics, Dr. Simeon developed a theory that HCG (chorionic gonadotrophin), a strong hormone found in men and women, influenced and actually reset the hypothalamus. This was important because the hypothalamus is responsible for managing key functions in the body relating to metabolism and the storage of fats.
Dr. Simeons tested his theory and then published the findings in a popular medical journal, the Lancet (1954). Once published his approach for treating obesity became so popular that he published detailed information in his book "Pounds and Inches".
